The Venue On Lake Grant is one of those rare gems that truly has it all. The outdoor ceremony space is absolutely stunning, with trees that provide natural shade and filter the harsh sunlight into the most beautiful, soft glow – a photographer's dream! The ceremony arch was breathtaking and created such a romantic focal point for Kaitlyn and Justin to exchange their vows.
But what really sets this venue apart is the variety it offers. Inside, there's a cozy yet spacious feel that's perfect for receptions. Outside, there are multiple gorgeous photo opportunities at every turn – from the natural beauty of the trees to the charming fence lined with greenery along the driveway. And for the getting-ready photos? The venue provides separate spaces, including an adorable little cabin for the guys. Having these distinct areas makes the day flow so smoothly and gives everyone their own space to prepare.
The Sweetest Family You'll Ever Meet
This is one of those weddings where you can feel the love radiating from every single person in the room. Kaitlyn and Justin's wedding at The Venue On Lake Grant was exactly that kind of day – one filled with genuine love, thoughtful details, and the warmest family I've ever had the pleasure of photographing. From the moment I arrived, I knew this was going to be a special day. Kaitlyn and Justin, along with their entire family, were quite possibly some of the kindest people I have ever met. The love they all have for each other wasn't just visible – it was tangible, filling every moment of the day.
Kaitlyn's sisters immediately took me under their wing, making sure I knew everything that was important to Kaitlyn. They walked me through where the first look would happen at the specific spot Kaitlyn had chosen, pointed out exactly where Kaitlyn and Justin would do their dip kiss so I wouldn't miss it – these thoughtful details made all the difference and showed just how much they all care about each other.
Getting Ready
Watching Kaitlyn get ready with her mom was one of those tender moments that reminds me why I love this job. Kaitlyn's mom was so happy and present, helping with every detail throughout the morning. When any small mishap occurred, mom was immediately ON IT – calm, collected, and ready to fix anything. The moment when she zipped Kaitlyn into her dress was so incredibly sweet.
Meanwhile, at the guys' cabin, I sent Justin's mom over to help him with his boutonniere. My second shooter captured this precious moment between mother and son, and I'm so glad we were able to document that special connection.
The Ceremony: A Tear-jerker
And then came the real tear-jerker moment. Kaitlyn's oldest brother walked her down the aisle, and there wasn't a dry eye in the ceremony space. The bond between them was so evident, and watching him give his sister away was absolutely beautiful. Kaitlyn and Justin exchanged their vows under that stunning arch, surrounded by their favorite people, with perfect natural lighting filtering through the trees. It was everything a ceremony should be – intimate, emotional, and absolutely beautiful.
Reception: Love, Laughter, and Epic Dance Moves
The reception speeches were phenomenal. You could feel the genuine love and support filling the room as family and friends shared their words for Kaitlyn and Justin. These weren't just obligatory toasts – they were heartfelt tributes that had everyone laughing one moment and reaching for tissues the next.
After Kaitlyn and Justin's romantic first dance, we witnessed something truly special. Kaitlyn danced with each of her brothers individually, and those moments were absolutely precious.
And then? The party REALLY got started! Kaitlyn's brothers got the dance floor going, and let me tell you – I had an absolute blast capturing all the energy and joy! The playlist was fantastic (always appreciated by a photographer who's hearing the same songs at every wedding), and everyone was fully committed to having the best time. The dance floor was packed all night long.
What Made This Wedding Special
At the end of the day, it wasn't just the beautiful venue or the perfect lighting (though those certainly helped!). What made Kaitlyn and Justin's wedding truly unforgettable was the people.
