When Maggie and Andrew told me they wanted to do their engagement session at The Hangar in Hocking Hills—the same venue where they'll say "I do" this September—I was SO excited! There's something special about capturing a couple at their wedding venue before the big day. Not only did we create stunning engagement photos, but we also got to location scout together for their September wedding, which means we'll already know all the best spots when the big day arrives!

The Hangar at Hocking Hills is an absolute dream for photographers. Nestled in the beautiful Hocking Hills area, this venue offers breathtaking natural scenery, rustic charm, and endless photo opportunities. From the rolling landscapes to the golden light filtering through the trees, every corner of this property is picture-perfect.

Having the chance to explore the venue during their engagement session was such a bonus! We discovered amazing spots for portraits, tested different lighting situations, and got a feel for how the property photographs. Come September, we'll be ready to make the most of every moment on Maggie and Andrew's wedding day.

Outfit Changes Done Right!

Maggie came PREPARED! She brought a few outfit options, and honestly, all of them were perfect. But that white dress? Chef's kiss! It photographed beautifully against the natural Hocking Hills backdrop and gave us those dreamy, romantic vibes I love. The way it moved when they walked together, the way it caught the golden light—it was absolutely stunning! Having multiple outfits also gave us variety in their gallery, which I always love. Each look brought a different energy to the session while still feeling authentically them.

Andrew: The MVP of Engagement Sessions

Can we talk about how amazing Andrew was during this session? He was more than happy to try every single pose Maggie and I came up with—and we got creative! Running through the field together? He was in. Laying in the grass for those dreamy overhead shots? Absolutely. Picking Maggie up and spinning her around? He did it with the biggest smile! You could tell that Andrew's main goal was making Maggie happy, and honestly, that's the best quality in a partner (and in an engagement session model!). His willingness to be fully present and have fun with it made the entire session so much better. These two were genuinely enjoying themselves, and it shows in every image

Making Magic with Harsh Sunlight

I'll be honest—the sun was INTENSE that day! But sometimes challenging conditions create the most beautiful results. By carefully positioning Maggie and Andrew, finding pockets of softer light, and properly exposing for their skin tones, we achieved that golden, dreamy quality I was hoping for.

The harsh sunlight actually worked in our favor, giving us that warm, glowing, ethereal look that makes these photos feel romantic and timeless. Even when Mother Nature throws you curveballs, there's always a way to create something beautiful!
